The 2012 Australian Chamber Survey.

Welcome.
Hello, my name is Kevin de Vries, and I am conducting a study of Australia's local chambers of commerce and the services they provide. This study is being undertaken as a research project within my Master of Business Administration degree through La Trobe Business School.

I am also the past executive officer of the Bendigo Business Council, and a coordinator of Business Network Alliance Victoria, so I have a knowledge of and passion for local chambers of commerce.

The purpose of this study is to learn more about the services offered by Australia's local chambers of commerce and to identify those services which are of greatest influence in attracting and retaining businesses as members of local chambers of commerce.

The results obtained from these surveys will be shared with local chambers of commerce to assist them in tailoring their services and marketing to maximise membership. The reports(s) will be available for download from this website.

As mentioned, this is a university-based research project coordinated through La Trobe University. The results will be used for submission in my thesis and may also be published in a journal or presented at a conference or seminar. The research supervisor is Professor Gavin Jack
If you have any questions, concerns or enquiries you may contact me at: mail@australianchambersurvey.com or by telephone: 0418 533 377.

What does the survey involve?

There are two elements to this study:

  1. The first part comprises a survey of Australia's local chambers of commerce. Each chamber will be asked to identify the services they provide to their members and their local community. Demographic data will also be captured.
  2. The second portion of the study surveys businesses that are membres of a local chamber to identify which services are of greatest influence in the decision to join or remain as a chamber member. Again demographic data will be captured.
Each survey should take between 5-10 minutes.
The surveys will be active until midnight on Monday 28 May 2012.
A summary of results will beprovided on this website in the second half of 2012.

How do I participate?

If you are a local chamber of commerce you should receive an invitation to complete a survey by email and/or by letter. To complete the chamber survey click here to be taken to the survey link.

If you represent a business that is a member of a local chamber of commerce you are invited to complete the business survey available at this page. If you represent a business that is not a member of a local chamber of commerce you are able to complete the survey and to provide your details of the services that you would value if provided by a local chamber.
